This rock, A.K.A. "The Old
Man" looks like you could pry it loose with a crowbar, but a 6.5
earthquake failed to dislodge, in the summer of 2000...it's right
at the entrance to Gurney Bay, on the lower west side of Kodiak Island. |

Seiners up inside Deadman Bay,
at the very south end of Kodiak. We usually don't fish in here unless the
weather is too bad outside, or we wish to catch dogs and humpies...
there's lots of kelp and jellyfish, too; really pretty at night later in the year,
from phosphorescence... |

Red Bluffs, just north up the
beach from Red River; all the mountains on the coast appear broken in
half; smooth and grassy on one side, jagged and rocky on the Shelikof
Straits side; one of the few areas of Kodiak with large flat areas...
